Overview and Purpose
Purpose: Use this first article test to verify that a newly installed or serviced machine can run the supplied CV TEST program, hold position, apply offsets/compensation correctly, drill with the multispindle head, pocket, profile and make through cuts in the required order. Record actual measurements and disposition before releasing the machine for production.
Procedure:
1. Complete pre‑run checks: Level and anchor the machine, connect air/vacuum/dust collection, check guards and emergency stops, ensure the control boots without alarms, load the CV TEST SELEXX program in inch (G20) and absolute (G90) modes, verify work offsets (G55 for drilling, G54 for routing/pocket/profile), confirm Z zero on test material, and secure material and spoilboard clearance.
2. Run the test program operations in the required order:
• Drill all holes to 0.5 in depth using the multidrill head; confirm drill bank changes don’t require tool changes.
• Pocket the square 0.25 in deep with Tool #1 (T12) using compensation when available and zero wear comp for the initial run.
• Machine the outside diamond 0.25 in deep CCW, right of centerline, with Tool #2 (T13).
• Machine the inside circle CCW, left of centerline, with Tool #2.
• Through‑cut the circle and diamond, confirming no spoilboard/table contact.
• Machine the outline CCW, right of centerline; ensure part retention tabs or hold‑down are adequate.
3. Inspect and document: Measure dimensions (blank size, pocket depth, hole diameter, circle and diamond sizes) against the acceptance tolerances (e.g., ±0.010 in on linear features, ±0.005 in on depths, ±0.25° on angles). Record results, take photos of the setup and completed part, and log any non‑conformance and corrective actions.
