Purpose, Tools & Safety
Purpose: Verify that the machine’s traveling axes are parallel to the vacuum table and spoilboard after machining. This ensures accurate cutting and a flat surface.
Tools Required:
- Dial indicator (dowel indicator) mounted in the machine spindle
- Handheld control device with jog mode
- Vacuum table and spoilboard
- Vacuum gauge (to verify vacuum level on spoilboard)
Safety Precautions:
- Make sure the machine is stopped and not running any program before placing the dial indicator in the spindle.
- Always wear safety glasses and keep hands clear of moving components when jogging the machine.
- Securely vacuum down the spoilboard before machining to prevent movement.
- Do not run the indicator over grooved areas of the table.
