Mechanical Testing on Aggregate Pin Location
There are several steps to mechanically setting up an machining aggregate.
Step 1
Make sure the aggregate pin is set to correct height. It should have a slight engagement into the Pin hole at the shoulder. If it is set too high the aggregate will be tilted in the tool changer. Hand load the aggregate using the tool loading button on the side of the spindle in Jog mode to make sure the pin engagement is correct.
Step 2
Most Aggregates have an adjustable ring to set the starting orientation on the aggregate in the correct pointing direction. Set the Aggregate in the correct direction with consideration of the direction in the spindle and in the tool changer.
Use a dial indicator to make sure the aggregate is at perpendicular and not set a not set at an improper angle.
Step 3
Test automatic loading of Tool Change function using MDI and create a simple program to load the Aggregate to make sure the tool changer loads the Aggregate smoothly. For you first test put a padded box under the tool changer so if there is a malfunction the aggregate falls into the box.
