Finding the Input / Output Status

All the sensors, buttons and other functions have input wiring on the machine that send signals to the control. The control uses these inputs to know the status of machine components, or even other cells or systems to safely operate without crashing and function correctly.

These inputs are also extremely useful to us to diagnose any machine functionality issues without trying to trace wiring all over the machine. This guide will explain how to do that.

  • Inputs are X signals in to the control. These signals are received by the control from proximity sensors, limit switches, timers and the like

  • Outputs are Y signals out of the control. These signals are sent to activate components on the machine or send ready signals, etc. to other integrated systems. Most outputs are connected to a relay card to switch loads, solenoids, etc.
